MedTech & Health
Teams build devices, apps and assistive technology that help people stay well, manage a condition or live more independently.
MedTech & Health is one of 12 competition categories in TechFest Australia, a national technology competition and festival for Australian school students and young innovators. It is open to Secondary (Years 7–12), Tertiary (University or TAFE) and Open (Ages 18–30) entries.
The 2027 challenge
Design a health technology for someone who lives far from a hospital, such as a monitoring kit, a telehealth tool that works on a weak connection or a low-cost assistive device.
Example projects
- Smart pill box that reminds and logs doses for older people living alone
- 3D-printed adaptive grip for people with limited hand strength
- Wearable that warns outdoor workers and athletes about heat stress
